Well a goal and an ambition are i think the same thing. I suppose "last refuge" is the key part of the quote as it suggests when someone has failed utterly and has no chance of success then all they have left is ambition.

I think it's quite applicable to our times.

I never liked that quote by Wilde. I see what he's saying, that those who don't achieve their goals will constantly have ambitions as a way to excuse their failures but those who eventually do succeed usually have ambitions before they achieved them.

Similar things have been observed, theres a ird called a blue tit, in Scotland it figured out how to peck open a milk bottle top and around the same time at the other end of the country the birds worked it out at the same time. I think it has less to do with something as esoteric as collective conciousness and more to do with the fact that the species has a similar size brain, similar size group and faced with the same problem so it's likely they will figure out the problem at the same rate. Like having two 1 ghz computers work out the same mathematical problem within roughly the same time if all parameters are identical.

Can you imagine how quickly human society would advance if you could just upload all of the required scientific knowledge in a field like medicine into a human overnight and then let them work instead of doing 8+ years total gaining a PhD? Exciting times

I never got the lost thing, i watched the first season, half way through season 2 and then just thought "wow this is way too slow" and gave up. I think lost fell into the trap of trying to make it suspenseful but ending up boring. Hopefully this river thing won't be the same, the trailer looks very good

Hype is it really a good idea to help the cheats understand how the ban works and how to get around it? I know some of them understand the system but theres plenty of cheats who can't figure out how to unban themselves, even on this website in the ban appeals section they ask for unban.
